Gaining Power through a Master Mind

February 27, 2009 0 comments

In the book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill describes a Master Mind as follows: “Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.”

Several years ago, when I was a Realtor, I was involved in a wonderful master mind with about 8 other Realtors. We would meet about every 6 to 8 weeks in Vero Beach. I drove from Sebring, others came from Pembroke Pines, Tampa, New Smyrna and Melbourne, Florida. We would commit to certain goals, we shared what was working in our business, presented challenges, and discussed a book we had committed to studying. We made sure that we didn’t buy into anyone’s “story” for why something wasn’t happening in their business. It was a great support team.

In addition, I was also involved in a master mind over the phone with a group of Realtors who committed to prospecting using the telephone. We would role- play prospecting and listing presentations, shared our numbers, for example, how many dial ups to talk to a homeowner, how many contacts to a listing appointment, etc.

I give a lot of credit for my success in the business to being part of these master minds.

Tonight we attended our local Sebring Chamber of Commerce banquet at the Quality Inn in Sebring. Our new President, and CEO, Sarah Pallone, along with a team of volunteers, did a wonderful job in putting this banquet together. We visited with some great folks, the food was delicious and the service was great. And we laughed a lot enjoying Dr. Holiday “The Hilarious Hypnotist” who had some of the members do some really funny things.

In his speech, David Noel, the new Chairman for the Chamber, encouraged each of us to work together, to support each other, and he didn’t just mean “shop in Sebring.” He was talking about forming “Master Minds.” Although, he didn’t use those words, that’s exactly what he was describing.

When you get together with a group of individuals and you commit to supporting each other, you share ideas, you expect accountability, and you only discuss what’s possible, your goals, your plans. And something wonderful begins to take place that one cannot really describe.

Andrew Carnegie, (1835-1919) was one of the most successful business tycoons of the 1800s, and one of the most notable philanthropists of all time. He was the founder and owner of the Carnegie Steel Company, which helped him become one of the richest men in the world during the 19th century.

In 1901, he sold his company, Carnegie Steel Company for $400 million ($7.4 billion in today’s dollars.)

Mr. Carnegie attributed his entire fortune to the POWER he accumulated through his MASTER MIND.

What else is there to say? Start a Master Mind today. Keep it simple, just pick up the phone right now or send someone an e-mail and tell them you want to start a Master Mind and would like them to be a part of it. They may have never heard of a Master Mind. You already have enough information from here to tell them what it is. Just tell them that it’s two or more persons working together in complete harmony toward a mutual goal or goals.”

They can be from your same industry, but it’s not necessary. The key is to have people who are positive, who want to better themselves and/or their companies. You could master mind to study a book. Don’t analyze this too much. Begin one today!

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; if one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Though one may be overpowered two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

How's your Vision?

February 21, 2009 0 comments

Webster's Dictionary defines VISION as: "A vivid mental image -- the power of imagination."

Read this again - real sloooooooooooow: A VIVID MENTAL IMAGE.

And it defines VIVID as: "Evoking lifelike images within the mind, having the clarity and freshness of immediate experience."

Our creator has given us the ability to use our IMAGINATION!

Children are very good at this. They can imagine easily, and sadly enough, they get punished if they are "day dreaming." What a sad thing to teach a little person, to stop IMAGINING.

Take a look around you, EVERYTHING that's around you, the computer, the chair, your clothes, the soft, beautiful music I'm listening to now, EVERYTHING has been created twice. It was first created in someone's mind, through the power of their imagination. They saw it before anyone else did. It was vivid.

The Secret movie has sold over seven million copies and it was through viral marketing, just word of mouth, no advertising. This movie has been so popular because it describes the Law of Attraction. That whatever you give your energy to, whatever you focus on, you will attract into you life, good or bad.

And while this is so true, there's more to the story.

I often say you can imagine yourself skinny, cut out the pictures of that skinny person, and place it on your bathroom mirror and even cut a picture of your face and put it on that body, but you will not be at your ideal weight by overeating in front of your TV everyday. It's not going to happen! You must take action. There are certain habits you will need to replace with new ones. However, you must IMAGINE yourself at your ideal weight in addition to taking certain action steps.

This is true with everything else in your life -- with your financial situation, your relationships, etc. Begin to use the power of your imagination to see things the way you want to see them, take action steps toward your goal, and only SEE your objective through your imagination and watch how it will begin to unfold.

"If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace." -- Yogi Berra (National Baseball Hall of Fame)

"The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision." -- Helen Keller (who was blind).

We recently visited Bok Tower in Lake Wales, Florida. It was built in 1929 by Edward W. Bok who would spend his winters in the Mountain Lake Community which is located adjacent to the highest point in the peninsula, 298 feet above sea level. It was beautiful! And what a spectacular building it is.

Mr. Bok wanted to preserve that hilltop and create a bird sanctuary, a place of beauty, serenity and peace -- and it's all that and more. As we were listening to a tour guide, and we were admiring this magnificent monument, someone standing next to us asked, "Why would he build that back then when there was nobody here to see it?" This was someone who did not understand "vision." Mr. Bok knew that this would be standing for many years, and he wanted it to be enjoyed by people for many years to come. Go see it -- you will be glad you did!

In the early 1900s, James Allen, in his book, "As a Man Thinketh," wrote:
"Dream lofty dreams, and as you dream, so you shall become. Your vision is the promise of what you shall one day be; your ideal is the prophecy of what you shall at last unveil."

Your imagination is a gift. Use it wisely.

The RISK–TAKER

February 12, 2009 0 comments

I heard the following poem once, I don’t know who wrote it, but I thought it was pretty incredible.

To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.

To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.

To reach out to others is to risk getting involved.

To show your feelings is to risk exposing your self.

To place your ideas, your dreams, before the crowd is to risk their loss.

To love is to risk not being loved in return.

To hope is to risk pain.

To try is to risk failure.

But risks must be taken; it absolutely must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

The person who risks nothing does nothing, and has nothing.

You may avoid suffering and sorrow but you simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, live or love chained by your certitudes. You will be a slave.

Only the person who risks is free.

Have you set goals in the past, but the fear inside stops you and you back away? Sure! We all have experienced that.

We are “natural born risk takers.” Our problem is that we have many shackles that we pick up along the way. Fear holds us back from literally living our dreams. And that’s the only kind of life that we want to be involved in.

Let’s choose to live the way we really want inside. Abraham Maslow pointed out “you’ll either step forward into growth or step back into safety.” There’s no compensation in playing it safe. That safety could be a prison.

Understand that fear is holding you back. UNDERSTANDING and COURAGE is going to enable you to break through that barrier.

By STUDYING you gain an understanding and the understanding tells us “QUIT LETTING YOUR OUTSIDE WORLD CONTROL YOUR THINKING. DON’T LET PREVIOUS OR PRESENT RESULTS CONTROL YOUR THINKING.”

Visualize what you want, get emotionally involved with what you want. The understanding leads to FAITH and the FAITH will manifest on a physical plane with what you want.

If you have not watched the movie The Secret, I encourage you to get the DVD today and/or the book. You can also get it at Books A Million or Barnes & Noble.

The Secret doesn’t have all the answers – but it is a start.

In the book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill said this in the chapter on DECISION: "Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million-dollar mark disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of REACHING DECISIONS PROMPTLY and of changing these decisions slowly, if and when they were changed."

Again, we welcome you on this call... DECIDE now that you WILL join us, and feel free to share the call with a friend!
